About Craig Raynor
Craig was seven years old when his stepfather Jack, a talented home craftsman and role model for Craig, gave him his first model airplane kit. From that time on, Craig was hooked on working with his hands and understanding how things work. His natural curiosity led him to take things apart to see how they worked.
Lots of kids take things apart, but Craig’s gift was that he could put them back together again—first a mini-bike, then a motorcycle, and finally his first car. He was 15-1/2—not even old enough to drive—when he began fixing his friends’ cars for the pure joy of it. By this time he knew that auto mechanics would be a lifelong passion.
A
fascination with the fine craftsmanship of classic cars led Craig to
open his first business—“Craig’s Classics.” Although he now does full-service
general automotive repair, tinkering with his classic 1968 Mustang is
still his favorite after-work therapy .Periodically, Craig works on classic
car restoration and custom rebuilds or continued maintenance on classic
cars.
Seven years ago, Craig came to Petaluma to start his own business. He had already made a down payment on a franchise when he met David Attebery, the original owner of Accu-Line Brake & Wheel. David was ill and looking for someone with his own ethical standards to take over his business. The two established an instant connection, and Craig ended up buying Accu-Line Brake & Wheel.
It Was More Than A Business Deal.
“During the weeks I worked with David,” says Craig, “he taught me more than I thought there was to know about the craft of auto mechanics. I consider him my mentor; he set a standard for me with his integrity, craftsmanship and loyalty to his customers.” Craig
is proud of the letter of recommendation David wrote for him when he took over
the business.
Craig is deeply involved in our community. Accu-Line Brake & Wheel has been
a sponsor or participant in such programs as Lock
Up Petaluma (for muscular dystrophy) and the Petaluma
River Cleanup. His classic Mustang has been shown at Hot
August Nights and Petaluma’s Salute
to American Graffiti a celebration and classic car cruise that benefits Petaluma
non-profit organizations.
